Is your restoration project a Grand Design?
Channel 4 is now seeking examples of outstanding home restorations for one of the categories in this year's Grand Designs Home of the Year competition.
As part of a television event hosted by Kevin McCloud this summer, recent projects will be considered by a panel of experts, among them CABE Comissioner Ken Shuttleworth and architect Will Alsop. The judges’ short-list will then be put to the public vote and the Grand Designs Home of the Year will be chosen.
‘The Grand Designs awards are a great opportunity to show the potential of historic homes,’ said Dr Ian Dungavell, Director of the Victorian Society. ‘Good restoration schemes are essential to keep Britain’s heritage in sympathetic use and to make the most of some of our best buildings. This is what the Victorian Society has worked to encourage for fifty years. In our golden anniversary year, it would be wonderful to see some excellent Victorian and Edwardian restoration projects getting the recognition they deserve.’
