Anniversary exhibition to mark fifty fighting years
23 April 2008
A photographic exhibition at the Royal Institute of British Architects celebrating the work of the Victorian Society has been extended until 12 June 2008 to allow more people a chance to discover the battles fought to save the nation's best Victorian and Edwardian buildings from the wrecking ball.
‘We’re delighted to have the opportunity to mark the Victorian Society’s anniversary with an exhibition at the RIBA,’ said Dr Ian Dungavell, Director of the Victorian Society. ‘Saving a Century celebrates the work of all those who have championed Victorian and Edwardian architecture over the last fifty years. It is a testament to the extraordinary energy and vision of the early members of the Victorian Society, without whom so many of the buildings we prize today would have been lost. It is not to be missed.’
Saving a Century runs until Thursday 12 June 2008 at the RIBA Gallery, RIBA, 66 Portland Place, London W1B 1AD
